Golden Voyage, by Sam Matamua. An old sailing ship on a golden voyage. This could be early morning or late afternoon, or if you prefer, maybe that's a yellow moon guiding their way. Credit to Jed for a fantastic ship model. |

My Little Rock Garden, by Sam Matamua. I built this entire scene solely around the mountain in the background because I liked its shape, I thought it had character. All the rocks sticking out of the lake are made up of the same material. A thin mist hovers over the water. That's it. Real simple. Just a pretty looking landscape picture. Everything nearer to the camera is slightly out of focus, lending some depth of field. |

Up in the Air, by Sam Matamua. In this picture you're looking straight down the side of a mountainous cliff. In my mind this is an island out in the pacific somewhere, but could just as easily be from somewhere along the cost of San Diego. |

The Way Back Home, by Sam Matamua. The story here is that this is somebody who is leaving their home, leaving all that they know and are familiar with. At some point along the journey they stop and turn around, and for one brief moment, they consider turning back. You're looking through their eyes at this moment. |

Islands in the Sun, by Sam Matamua. Portrait view of a small island chain somewhere out there in the Pacific. You can tell these islands aren't very big because the trees are almost as tall as the island tops. |

Valley of the Sun, by Sam Matamua. Looks like its very hot here, so pack lots of water! And it probably gets pretty creepy at night, what with all those dead trees. This is another picture where I thought I had this interesting mountain shape in the background and then proceeded to build the rest of the scene around it. Look close and see all the black birds flying around and sitting in the trees. |

Woodland Shores, by Sam Matamua. I was working on creating a terrain in Bryce when I noticed that from the top down view it looked particularly interesting. I didn't do anything else too it, it looked too good the way it was. It sort of reminds me of an old log that has been cut open and you can see the old warped rings inside. And the green area kind of reminds me of waves seen from high up. That's how the title came about. |

The Last Fishing Trip, by Sam Matamua. I look at this picture and I can't help but think of fishing trips I took with my grandfather when I was a kid. I love how this terrain turned out, I think its a perfect fit for the boat. It really looks like there used to be a lake here where kids would spend the afternoons fishing with their grandfathers. All gone now. |

Tomb of the King, by Sam Matamua. Whoever he was, he must've been a great man to deserve such a grand burial site. Then again, he's awfully isolated out there. ...Maybe he was contagious. |

Morning at Rock Beach, by Sam Matamua. Just some weird rock formations in the water. |

Search for a Better Tomorrow, by Sam Matamua. Three birds go on a search for a better tomorrow. I love the shape of this valley and I love the warm colors. |
|---|
Blue Lava Fields II, by Sam Matamua. They're Back! More blue lava fields! Ummm, actually the same blue lava fields, just different angle. |
|---|
Blue Lava Fields, by Sam Matamua. Just a basic, basic, really basic landscape picture. |

Newt Gingrich Your Rocket Ship is Ready, by Sam Matamua. Oh Newt. I was tired of you in the 90's and I'm oh so tired of you now. Please, please oh please, get aboard your rocket ship and go back to your home planet. We're sooooooo done with you here. |

M1 Tank Platoon, by Sam Matamua. The words read "US Military presents, M1 Tank Platoon, coming soon to a theater (of war) near you". This is not political. I'm not saying anything here. I just like tanks! I was trying to think how to pose these tanks. I played around with different positions and camera angles. I think in the end I must've been channeling the famous Charlie's Angels pose, you know the one in the opening credits of the TV show where you see the girls in silhouette against a fiery backdrop. That's what these tanks remind me of. |

BP: Before and After, by Sam Matamua. Thanks BP for destroying our waters. Now the seagulls don't play here anymore. |
|---|
Birthers - Goodbye, Farewell and Amen, by Sam Matamua. Please exit the world stage here. And don't worry about shutting the door behind you, there isn't one. |

Mr. Jenkin Waves Goodbye, by Sam Matamua. This is Mr. Jenkin's last night on the island. |
|---|
Sun Towers, by Sam Matamua. A vast futuristic city unfolds to the horizon and great towers of technological perfection penetrate the sky. Meanwhile, red flowers in a vase vie for some of the sun's early morning rays. |

A Rare Treat, by Sam Matamua. On the corner of 34th Street and anywhere, a zombie finds a rare treat: a leg bone with a bit of rotten meat still attached. It’s from one of his brethren, another zombie, but still the meat is moist and savory, and it’s been so long since its last meal. This is going to taste soooo good. |

Misty Mountain Morning, by Sam Matamua. Portrait of a mountain lake with a light mist rolling in and spooky trees sticking out of the water. I tried to recreate real life scenes just like this where the trees mysteriously stick up out of the middle of a lake. |
|---|
The Two Towers, by Sam Matamua. No relation to anything Lord of the Rings. I had the idea of a castle sitting way up high in the sky, like an ominous dark guard tower of ancient times, watching over the land. When I was nearing completion of this scene I added a second tower in the background, figuring two was better than one. And so the one tower became two. |
|---|
Journey's End, by Sam Matamua. Three horses come to the end of their journey. |
|---|
Cool Blue Horizon, by Sam Matamua. This is just a simple fantasy sunset picture. You have a strange looking landscape, some distant mountains and a little river running up the middle of the scene. And clear skies are forecast for the rest of the day. |
|---|
DragonScape, by Sam Matamua. Dragons fly over a big rift in the earth as red smoke swirls up from below. The canyon backdrop and sky were created in Bryce. I love the canyon walls here. The red smoke is a Photoshop creation and the Dragons came from Daz3d. |

The Last Time We Saw the Sun, by Sam Matamua. Well, at first glance, this picture no doubt appears to be very romantic in tone. But I had two alternate possibilities in the back of my mind when I was working on this. One idea: these former lovers were actually saying goodbye on the beach and about to go their separate ways forever. Second idea: that there was something very wrong with the sun and it was dying out, which of course would be the end of the Earth (not to mention the last time we saw the sun). |
|---|
Let's Roll, by Sam Matamua. A huge military task force consisting of Tanks, Humvees, APC's and Helicopters, sets out across the desert on a mission. |
|---|
Sun Worship, by Sam Matamua. The trees bow to the sun. Just a simple sunset picture. |
|---|
Elephants on the Edge II, by Sam Matamua. Same idea, different look. |
|---|
Elephants on the Edge, by Sam Matamua. I think the cliff in this picture represents the ends of the earth, as in sailors of old sailing to the ends of the earth. The elephants come to this place because they are being driven out of their normal habitat. They quite literally have no where else to go. This is where they come to die. |
